For one weekend this December, two of San Francisco’s great curators will be teaming up to transform Ghirardelli Square into a pop-up holiday bazaar. With La Cocina’s intimate understanding of local food culture, and Do415’s finger on the pulse of San Francisco’s art and music scene, the two are coming together to create a vibrant marketplace for natives and tourists alike to celebrate local entrepreneurship and find the perfect gift for the holidays.
El Mercado – A Holiday Market at Ghirardelli Square will be a weekend getaway in a city awash in a booming tech economy. With over 20 food vendors and 40 DIY artisans, El Mercado will sharpen our focus on the small businesses that underpin our economy. There will even be local indie rock bands spontaneously caroling throughout the bazaar, curated by Noise Pop! Look forward to a weekend of food, crafts, music and more!
About La Cocina
The mission of La Cocina is to cultivate low income food entrepreneurs as they formalize and grow their businesses by providing affordable commercial kitchen space, industry-specific technical assistance and access to market opportunities. We focus primarily on women from communities of color and immigrant communities. Our vision is that entrepreneurs gain financial security by doing what they love to do, creating an innovative, vibrant and inclusive economic landscape. By providing community resources and an array of industry-specific services, business incubators ensure small businesses can succeed. La Cocina follows this model by providing commercial kitchen space and technical assistance focusing on low-income women and immigrant entrepreneurs who are launching, growing and formalizing food businesses.
Do415 is a Bay Area events and culture guide. Launched by Noise Pop Industries in early February 2012, it’s quickly become the definitive site to discover what’s going on in the Bay.
Do415 works with promoters, venues, bands, tastemakers, and more to keep users in the know about the best music, art, film, food, theatre, comedy and culture. The website lists and sorts events in San Francisco, Oakland and the greater Bay Area by collecting data from users and dozens of local and national tastemakers to help users make informed decisions.
Do415 is a part of DoStuff Media, a larger national network that includes Do512 (Austin), Do312 (Chicago), DoLA and DoNYC, among others.
